Cartier International Polo: 27th July 2008
Charlie Methven had this to say about the annual event at Guards Polo Club:
One of the world’s most ancient sports (it dates back to 650BC), polo is the ne plus autre of posh pastimes. The jewel in the sport’s crown is The Cartier International, held on Smith’s Lawn at the Guards Club in Windsor Great Park. The Queen regularly makes the short journey from Windsor to the Royal Box to watch a few chukkas.
Cartier International Polo is the biggest polo day in the world! Royalty, celebrities and leading players combined with a 25,000 strong crowd make this event an excellent showpiece of horsemanship. Follow the highs and lows of the players as they gallop across the pitch, ride each other off or turn on a sixpence in pursuit of that all important goal. The evening entertainment is provided by Chinawhites - club nights to the future king since 2001!!

Or, alternatively, wear nothing at all - as three spectators chose to do this year! Two of the streakers gave themselves up but a third went on to vault the barriers. England beat Australia 10-9 in front of Prince Charles.
