What you need for Freshers’ Week
Don’t believe the hype - you don’t actually need very much. While your mates are melting the parents’ credit cards in Ikea, you can carefully select a couple of luxuries to see you through the next three or so years by being realistic about what you actually need. Against a backdrop of tin openers, colanders and new crockery, you can waltz in with just; a knife, a fork, a spoon, a plate, a cup and a pan. Most household will have sufficient culinary spares to give you these things without a trip to the local homeware store. Depending on your living arrangements, you may also have to take your duvet and pillow with you.
Then wait, tot up how much you have saved, and spend it on the items below:
England Micro Coolers from £22.90
Tango Eco Mini Fridge £25
No need to argue over who’s cheese is who’s or venture into the mouldy kitchen for supplies. Just reach out of bed and select your snack from this mini eco fridge, which only uses 6W.
New Apple MacBook Pro £1599
Once you’re out of halls and into your own accommodation, you’ll need to share the internet with your other housemates. The best way to do this is to get a wireless router. Most new laptops will have a wireless connection built in, but if you have an old one, you may need to buy a wireless network card.
See this fantastic comparison of BT and Sky to help you choose between the different internet providers.
Magnum of Champagne from £80
Celebrate your academic success in style with a magnum of champagne: great to drink, even better to share!
